1998/99 marked Langney's best ever run in the FA Cup, reaching the 4th and final Qualifying Round after thrashing Ryman Premier Division Harrow Borough 4-1 in the previous round.
A win at DM Premier Division Worcester City would have seen Sports face Torquay United in the 1st Round proper. Unfortunately, and controversially the match was postponed at one in the afternoon after torrential rain, meaning that Steve Richardson's side had to travel back to Worcester the following Tuesday evening.
Sports lost seven-nil.
